The GZ-HD6 utilizes a lens designed for high definition by FUJINON. FUJINON is the leader in professional camera lens for live HD images. This lens features 3 aspherical elements and provides nearly the same brightness (F1.8-1.9) throughout its zoom range.
In addition, the lens surface is coated with a new Electronic Beam Coating (EBC) that greatly reduces degradation caused by light reflecting off the lens surfaces, leading to greater light transmission and reduced flaring and ghosting.

FUJINON lenses are highly regarded and entrusted by major broadcasting and motion picture companies, holding over 60% worldwide market share in the professional HD industry.
For bright, realistic colors the HD Everio uses three 1/5-inch CCDs — one each for red, green and blue. Naturally, by having dedicated CCDs for each primary color, the camera is able to gather the maximum visual information which leads to more realistic color reproduction and presence. In addition, to ensure precise prism/CCD registration, JVC has incorporated FUJINON mounting technology used in professional camcorders.
The Red and Blue pixel locations are shifted relative to Green, allowing the sampled color information to be quadrupled through interpolation.
The HD Everio GZ-HD6 consumer camcorder offers Full HD 1920x1080i recording. Native 1920x1080i resolution is maintained throughout the recording to playback process from lens, CCD, MPEG2 Transport Stream and output via HDMI (V.1.3 with x.v.Color(TM)), or USB2.0 with no quality-degrading conversion. 
With a 120GB built-in hard disk drive you can enjoy up to ten hours of Full HD 1920x1080i recording at a high 30Mbps (MAX), plus you get two additional recording modes.

Developed specifically for HD Everio, this image processing engine processes the CCD images as a 1920x1080 progressive scan signal. This provides the maximum image information to work with, regardless of the actual recording mode that is used. Also integrated into the chip are five digital noise reduction technologies that collaborate to improve vertical resolution by about 30%. It's at the heart of JVC's 1920x1080 Full HD recording system.
The 2.8" widescreen LCD offers a 16:9 aspect ratio for wide cinematic video shooting. Naturally the playback picture can be enjoyed in full widescreen dimensions on the LCD or on a connected widescreen TV. This Clear LCD cuts surface reflections and glare to maintain a clear, visible, bright view during outdoor recording in direct sunlight.
High-capacity HDD to record video and still images. Internal media means no need to buy additional discs and tapes. Since it's HDD, you can directly access the scene you want and delete the scene you don't want on the spot. Also, there's no risk of erasing previous recordings by mistake.
Floating Suspension System effectively dampens vibrations through polymer shock absorbers while Gravity Sensor System automatically senses sudden acceleration such as in a free fall situation, and turns off the power to defend the hard disk so that a head crash can be avoided even when the unit is dropped.
* Operation of hard disk drive protection is not guaranteed against all cases of shock or accident. HD Everio cannot be used in low pressure areas (generally places that are more than 3,000 meters (10,000 feet) above sea level)
The GZ-HD6 also has a slot for SDHC/SD Memory Card so you can store videos (SP mode only) and stills on this commonly available memory card (not provided).
